Course Description: This will be a 3-4 hour master class workshop (depending on enrollment). Students should submit up to 3 poems of 1-2 pages each, although we may not have time to workshop all of them. Enrollment will be capped at 15 students. Please send your poems to tle@aaww.org by February 14, 2018.

Monica Youn’s most recent book Blackacre (Graywolf Press, 2016) won the William Carlos Williams Award of the Poetry Society of America and was a finalist for the 2016 National Book Award in Poetry, PEN Open Book Award, and the National Book Critics Circle Award. Her other books include Barter (Graywolf Press, 2003); and Ignatz (Four Way Books, 2010), which was a finalist for the National Book Award. Her poems have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies, including the New Yorker, the Paris Review, New York Times Magazine, Lana Turner, and The Best American Poetry. Among many other awards, she has been awarded the Wallace Stegner Fellowship at Stanford University and the Witter Bynner Fellowship of the Library of Congress. A former attorney, she now teaches poetry at Princeton University and serves on the Board of Directors for the Asian American Writers’ Workshop.
