CANCELLED: Mouth to Mouth Open Mic

Due to inclement weather, we will reschedule the Open Mic for a later date! Check back soon for details!

It’s time again to kick off the third season of our Mouth to Mouth Open Mic series, with special guest performers Kelly Tsai and Aparna Nancherla. If you didn’t catch Kelly’s original play, Say You Heard My Echo, in September during A4’s Locating the Sacred Festival, then you’ve probably seen her on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam or performing at the Apollo Theater or the White House. Kelly’s poetry has been published widely and she is currently at work on her first full-length collection of poems under the working title A Guidebook for Huaqiao. Aparna Nancherla was deemed one of LA Weekly’s Comedy Acts to Watch in 2013: “Her onstage demeanor may suggest anxious naïveté, but her propensity for bone-dry cynicism—not to mention breaking the fourth wall to lob asides about the axioms of comedic performance itself—is what’s recently been landing her at festival after festival.” Aparna is currently a writer and player on Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell on FX, where she writes and recently voiced the anthropomorphic incarnation of the fiscal cliff.

Mouth to Mouth is AAWW’s monthly open mic, hosted by performer Jen Kwok and novelist Ed Lin, that brings together literary writers, stand-up comedians and you.
