Author’s note: “a pre-golden war garden” is learning lineage through fragments. Family friends would share memories serendipitously, but there wasn’t a vessel to hold them. After researching Nhạc Vàng (yellow music), I stumbled upon my father’s Nhạc Vàng songbooks. These songbooks became the vessel to weave and understand fragments together as history.
