Without my hands, I have no soul.

Editor’s Note:
On August 14, 2020, The Margins launched a new Flash fortnightly fiction series. One year into the project, after reading over almost two hundred pieces, we noticed how flash fiction is an ideal container for play. From the enthusiastic response by readers, especially with our round-ups in our Flash Fiction Horoscopes, we saw how a fictional world—to escape to and escape quickly!—was needed. Also during the pandemic and an all-too-often dehumanizing news cycle, we were thrilled to see the level of experimentation among our writers—including this lovely surprise, a short work of graphic fiction by Sam Nakahira, which we saved to publish as our one year anniversary piece.
Some exciting news: Our next Submittable reading period opens on October 1, 2021 and closes November 15, 2021, and we’d love to read your work. We have some fun projects planned for Fall 2021 that highlights, engages with, and documents this emerging and evolving landscape of Asian American flash fiction. Please keep your eyes on this space.
Thank you for reading,
