Ferdinand m. Lopez is a doctoral student at the Women and Gender Studies Institute of the University of Toronto. She received the 2018 Connaught bursary as an international scholar. Born and raised in Tondo, Manila, Ferdie writes about the intersections of space, sexuality and spectacle with Tondo as locus of study. Her other research interests include Filipinx migrant literature, Philippine culture-based education, and transpacific queer studies. Ferdie was an associate professor in Literature and the Humanities for three decades at the University of Santo Tomas, the Royal, Pontifical and Catholic University in the Philippines.
