Kimarlee Nguyen

Kimarlee Nguyen (1986-2020) was born and raised in Revere, Massachusetts in a family of Khmer Rouge survivors. Her family’s traumatic but triumphant history, as well as her own experience of growing up in a traditional Cambodian household, shaped the heart of her writing. A graduate of Vassar College with a B.A. in English, she received an M.F.A. at Long Island University, Brooklyn and was a fellow at the Center for Fiction and in the Kundiman Mentorship Lab. Her fiction previously appeared in Drunken Boat, Cha: An Asian Literary Journal, Hyphen Magazine, Flash Fiction Magazine and an anthology published by Third Women Press. Kimarlee passed away on April 5, 2020 due to complications related to Covid-19.
