Layla Zbinden

Layla Zbinden [they/them/theirs] is a 3rd year PhD student in American Studies and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California. Their work looks at the epigenetics of autoimmune diseases and autophagy against the backdrop of collective trauma, colonialism in the Arab world, and gendered violence across generations. Layla is guided by the chronic illness they inherited from the grandmother they never met; and sustained by crip care, queer family, and the passion of their fellow liberatory Arab organizers.
