M Lin was born and raised in Beijing and writes in English as her second language. Her short story collection, The Memory Museum, is forthcoming from Graywolf Press in 2026. Her work has appeared in the New York Times, Ploughshares, Fence, Epiphany, swamp pink, Words Without Borders, and elsewhere. Winner of the Ploughshares Emerging Writer’s Contest and the PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize for Emerging Writers, M received her MFA from Brooklyn College and currently lives and teaches in New York.
