Nygymet Mynzhani (1922-1993) was a historian, ethnographer, and literary researcher. In 1941, he graduated from the Mongolian-Kazakh school and the police school in Urumzhi. In addition to knowing Kazakh, Uyghur, and Old Turkic languages, Mynzhani also learned Chinese, Russian, and Arabic. His works include Language – Literature (1942), Data of Kazakh History (1949), Oral Literature of the Kazakh Khanate (1980), Formation and Development Eras of Kazakh Literature (1981), Bakhtiyar and His Forty Branches (1982), and Epic Genres in Kazakh Literature (1982).
