Shebati Sengupta (they/she) is a writer, instructor, and PhD Candidate in American Studies at the University of New Mexico. They are a VONA and Roots, Wounds, Words Alum, and the recipient of fellowships from Brooklyn Poets and the Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing. Previously, she has published in the Lantern Review and with the Rights Collective. Shebati was also the 2024 Garlic Poet Laureate at the Toronto Garlic Festival, where they learned five new ways to love their favorite allium.
