The Bicutan Political Detainees

The Bicutan Political Detainees

The Bicutan Rehabilitation Center was a major detention center during the martial law regime. Activists, common criminals, and even some innocent people who were arrested were detained indefinitely without charges in this prison. To keep their sanity and maintain camaraderie, political prisoners started singing together, which eventually led to the recording of some of their songs in a two-volume cassette tape called “Ibong Malaya (Free Bird).”
