Topilus B. Tebai was born in 1994 in Mapiha, a district in the Central Papuan mountains. (As of this writing, this district is under the administration of Dogiyai Regency, Central Papua Province.) He works as a high school teacher at SMAN 1 Dogiyai. Since 2012, he has published his stories in Papuan outlets, including Selangkah, Jubi, Suara Papua (Papuan Voices) and Sastra Papua (Papuan Lit). He published his collections of short stories Aku Peluru Ketujuh (I Am the Seventh Bullet) in 2017, Nemangkawi (White Arrow) in 2020, and Perempuan Penyembah Malaikat (The Woman Who Idolized Angels) in 2023. He also compiled the folktales of the Dogiyai People into Amoye Fights the Demon Prince and Other Tales, published in 2022.
