AAWW TV: Breaking into Speculative Fiction

Novelists Malka Older and Jennifer Marie Brissett discuss the ins and outs of writing speculative fiction

By AAWW

On AAWW TV, our new YouTube channel, you can relive the magic of live events at our space in Chelsea, check out in-depth interviews with writers, and more. Every Thursday we’ll be sharing a new segment from AAWW TV on The Margins.

In conversation in Brooklyn at our 2016 PubCon, novelists Malka Older (the author of Infomocracy: A Novel) and Jennifer Marie Brissett (Elysium) speak with Vintage editor Tim O’Connell about writing speculative fiction and everything that the genre entails, from YA to fantasy and science fiction. They share their experiences in the publishing industry, where they get their inspiration from, and what it’s like being a writer of color who loves science fiction.
