Emily Mitamura is a queer Japanese American poet and PhD student living in Minnesota. Her academic work centers afterlives of mass violence in the global south, particularly the performative/narrative demands placed on those interred in wakes of colonial structures. Her poetry engages continuous bodily/social/familial/archival hauntings and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize in addition to appearing (or soon appearing) in Clarion Magazine, Black Heart Magazine, Rain Taxi, and AADOREE, among other places.
