Faris Joraimi studies the history of the Malay world (modern Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei). His essays on Singaporean history and culture have appeared in s/pores: New Directions in Singapore Studies, the Mekong Review, and Mynah, among others. He co-edited Raffles Renounced: Towards a Merdeka History (Ethos: 2021), a volume of essays on writing decolonial history in Singapore, with the historian Sai Siew Min and playwright Alfian Sa’at.
