April Scott

April Scott (she/her) is from Gadsden, South Carolina, and is a brown-skinned Deaf American. April has deep roots in Gadsden on traditional and unceded land of the Congaree peoples. As a graduate of Gallaudet University, April answers a calling to be a mentor and role model for brown-skinned Deaf children now and in the generations to come. April centers where she comes from and protects her roots fiercely. The strength and wise ancestors that came before her are with her everyday. Life may shake her, lead her to scream, but nothing can destroy her spiritual connections. The spark still burns in her as she continues to advocate and be in community with her Deaf/HOH community.
