Stephanie Ameyaw is a first-generation Ghanaian Canadian who resides on the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations, colonially known as Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Stephanie is a connector and a bridge for those who came before her to those who will come after her, which impacts how she sees and presents herself to the global world. Her work with batik speaks to this, as batik has become a home for her to explore her cultural identity and heritage through her work.
